Grotto Mountain -- Sep 25, 2004

Elevation Gain: 1425 meters (4674 feet)

Climbed by: me, MarkL, Mick, Theresa.

This was my first real scramble -- Ha-Ling was a walk in the park compared to this one! It's about 2x the elevation gain, and a much steeper "trail". In this case, we used one of MarkL's infamous "alternate" routes, which means "we didn't find the trail quick enough, so we just walked straight up!"

As you can see from the photos, the huge summit cairn was still standing in late September, 2004 -- when I went back in 2006 by myself it had fallen/been knocked over. A shame, really, as it was quite an architectural marvel!
